On Saturday, the 27th of October at the State University of New York at Albany (Ualbany), in beautiful Upstate New York, the Capital Region Google Developer Group (GDGCR) hosted the third annual Capital Region DevFest conference, or DevFestCR18. Each year the event gets stronger. In 2018, GDGCR is proud to announce the accomplishment of hosting DevFests in Saratoga, Schenectady and Albany counties, thereby “completing the triangle”.
The overall mission of GDGCR is to educate and equip the Capital Region technical community with technical knowledge and skills, complimented by development of understanding of the environments within which software is developed, tested, deployed and operated.
GDGCR holds multiple meetups throughout the year, as well as, typically, three signature events: I/O Extended, Cloud Next Extended and DevFestCR. I/O Extended and Cloud Next Extended events follow the main Google conferences, Google I/O and Cloud Next.
GDGCR is keenly interested to grow its member base, thereby strengthening the overall tech community in the Capital Region. GDGCR is also invested in giving back to the community that so generously supports its efforts. DevFestCR is the only event requiring paid registration during the year. This is made possible through monetary and in-kind sponsorships from organizations around the Capital Region who are supportive of the efforts of GDGCR. The large and diverse collection of organizations that have supported DevFest over the years can be seen by reviewing the sponsor information for DevFestCR16, DevFestCR17 and DevFestCR18.
GDGCR would like to keep growing the quality of content and engagement within the group and with the broader technical community in the Capital Region. To this end, GDGCR endeavors not only to grow just GDGCR, but also to establish synergies with other meetups which have similar goals and/or host similar content.
If you would like to connect with GDGCR, please consider joining the meetup, following GDGCR on Twitter, or requesting to join their Slack.
