Since 2010, Upstate Venture Connect (UVC) has provided thought-leadership, intelligence, and network building opportunities for high growth founders in Upstate NY. UVC is currently working with nearly 700 entrepreneurs to scale their businesses by showcasing their companies, making personalized introductions, and hosting invite-only gatherings. UVC is a 501c3 non-profit.

Startup Community Advocate (Currently recruiting for Rochester, Ithaca, and the Hudson Valley)

Upstate Venture Connect (UVC) is helping revitalize the Upstate New York economy by supporting venture-backable entrepreneurs. Are you someone who shares our interest in rebuilding Upstate and helping create more high growth opportunities? Do you want to build a network of high value contacts in the emerging tech ecosystem?

The Startup Community Advocate will…

• Engage 3-5 new founders a month and introduce them to UVC offerings.
• Attend local entrepreneurship events in your community.
• Organize or support 2-3 networking gatherings per year to link emerging founders with experienced UNY50 members.
• Share news about your region’s founders for Upstate-wide distribution via UVC channels.
• Make introductions via email for local founders that may benefit from the connection.
• Track introductions, connections, and regional founders in UVC database

The ideal candidate will be…

• Curious about startups, entrepreneurship, and high growth business
• Able to travel to & attend startup events locally and within their greater region
• Comfortable working independently and remotely while also meeting performance expectations
• Located in Upstate NY (currently recruiting for Rochester, Ithaca, and the Hudson Valley for 2026)

This is a remote, part-time contract position.
