Salem Mariam is a strategic operations leader with experience in national security, international development, and political campaigns. She most recently served as Special Assistant to the President in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, where she led political appointments across all national security agencies for the Biden-Harris Administration.
Her previous roles in the administration include serving in the Department of Defense, supporting both the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense, as well as in the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Resilience and Food Security.
Salem began her career on Capitol Hill as Director of Operations for Congressman Adam Smith (WA-09), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee. She has also worked on several political campaigns, including as Deputy Operations Director in Wisconsin during President Biden’s 2020 presidential race.
Salem studied Political Science at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. A proud Dallas native, she never misses a chance to root for her hometown sports teams.
