Dan has a 40-year career in academic PR working with great people and dozens of outstanding colleges and universities. He specializes in sharing stories about science and technology and student entrepreneurs, something that has intrigued him since the mid-1970s, when he worked with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which invented university-based business incubator.
Now he’s embarked on two parallel initiatives that combine both interests: an oral history and podcast focused on the story of Tech Valley and a new Web platform focused on student-led businesses coming out of Upstate New York’s business incubators, venture accelerators, and business-plan competitions.
As the Principal and editor of C&R Interactive, a content development firm focused on student-led businesses along “The New York Brainway,” Dan draws a career that has taken him to five New York college campuses, including Union College, RPI, Syracuse University, the University at Stony Brook and Skidmore College. Along the way, he launched ProfNet, an Internet-based expert network.
In promoting Skidmore’s Kenneth A. Freirich Business Plan Competition, Dan saw the importance of providing more support to student-led businesses and is pleased to join UVC in this effort, serving as a liaison to Upstate colleges and universities.
