Techstars has been working in Buffalo since the beginning of this year and has been learning as much as possible about the community’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through 60+ stakeholder interviews, 75+ survey responses, and extensive secondary research. Now, with our new Executive Director, Jack Greco, on board in Buffalo, we’re excited to share the results.
Using the lens of Techstars’ startup ecosystem development model—with a focus on attitudes, actors, and activities—we will hear about the findings of the assessment, including discussion about Buffalo’s culture, capital, talent, institutions and density.
The Techstars model does not prescribe a general playbook in the communities it supports. Instead, it builds a living roadmap based on the voices, experiences, and insights uncovered during the assessment. Everyone in a community has an important part to play. But thriving entrepreneurial ecosystems are led by entrepreneurs, and when entrepreneurs win, everyone can win. The roadmap will evolve over time, in partnership with 43North and any community member who raises their hand to support the community’s growth, and will focus on activities that will best serve Buffalo’s startup ecosystem.
The early results of the assessment indicate there is work ahead, and that there is much to be excited about in Buffalo’s startup community. We invite you to help us propel Buffalo into the next phase of entrepreneurial growth. Your participation matters—please join us!
Speakers will be entrepreneurs representing the many great organizations who have helped grow local founders over the years. A full list of speakers will be updated here in the coming days.
