Biography

Charles D. Stormon is a seven-time serial tech entrepreneur and two-time fund manager who mentors other entrepreneurs, serves on corporate boards, and invests in Seed/A stage B2B SaaS companies. He does his best to live and work his values of equality of opportunity, diversity, and sustainability.

As  Partner at StartFast Fund II, Chuck focuses on investment selection, due diligence and portfolio company development. As a Managing Director of StartFast Venture Accelerator, Chuck participated in 48 lead investments and numerous portfolio company boards.

Chuck purchased Acumen Detection, Inc., a manufacturer of molecular diagnostic reagents, from SRC, Inc. of Syracuse, NY in 2019. In 2020, he executed a change of control transaction with the Dairy Farmers of America. He serves as CEO of the subsidiary.

Prior to joining Acumen Detection as President in 2018, Chuck served as Director of Advanced Technology for AIS, Inc., a leading Upstate NY company in computer and network security technology research and development. During this period Chuck also taught Entrepreneurship I & II and served on the Advisory Board for the Madden School of Business at LeMoyne College.

In 2014, Chuck co-founded RushTera, Inc., a leading SaaS provider to the film, media and content industries. The inspiration for RushTera came from Chuck’s turnaround experience at PacketExchange, a London-based Internet infrastructure business, acquired in 2011 by GTT.

In 2000, Chuck cofounded Steleus, Inc. a world-class enterprise telecom software company located in Boston, France and India. NASDAQ listed telecom equipment manufacturer, Tekelec acquired the business in 2004, where Chuck served as VP of Strategy, Product Management and M&A until leaving in 2007. During his tenure, software product revenues grew from $18 million to over $100 million. Subsequently, Tekelec was acquired by Oracle.

From 1986 to 2000, Chuck cofounded and built three artificial intelligence (AI) businesses, Coherent Research (AI chip manufacturer), SmartMaps International (AI map conversion for Electric Utilities) and Coherent Networks (AI applications for Telecoms). The first was acquired by Cypress Semiconductor, the second by Osmose Utility Services and the third merged into Steleus.

Chuck excels at cutting through the seemingly complex to the essentials. Above all else, he enjoys coaching, mentoring, building and leading teams to produce outstanding results. He holds BS and MS degrees in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University and resides in Cazenovia, NY.
