Rob Nichols serves as KeyBank’s Director of Commercial Banking for the Eastern NY market, headquartered in Albany. He is responsible for sales and relationship management for large and mid-size commercial client relationships. Rob began his commercial banking career after college, completing an 18 month comprehensive management training program in Washington, DC. Rob proceeded with a banking career that has included both line and management positions in Commercial and Industrial Lending, Commercial Real Estate and Municipal and Not-for-Profit Investment Banking. Rob joined KeyBank in 2016, upon Key’s acquisition of First Niagara Bank. Rob had joined First Niagara in 2012, where he most recently served as the Bank’s Director of Business Banking.
Mr. Nichols received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University at Albany and his Master’s Degree from Union Graduate College. He has also completed employer-sponsored Advanced Leadership and Development programs through Babson College and Harvard University.
Rob is passionate about entrepreneurship and mentoring start-up companies. He is an active angel investor, both individually and as a member of the Eastern NY Angels investment fund, where he serves on the investment screening committee. Rob is a multi-year judge of the NYS Business Plan Competition. He is a member of the board of the Upstate Capital Association of New York, and serves on the Board of Advisors for Pine Street Capital.
