UVC partners with ecosystem leaders to create a women investment fund.

As part of Upstate Venture Connect’s mission to connect high-growth company founders with the people and resources needed for success, UVC Cofounders Martin Babinec and Nasir Ali have joined the advisory team of a new women investment fund focused on supporting female entrepreneurs.

Chloe Capital was founded by Elisa Miller-Out, Kathryn Cartini and Erica O’Brian in January, 2017 with the goal of investing in women-led innovation companies, and educating women investors on how to make an impact by investing in women founders.

Miller-Out is a member of UVC’s UNY50 Leadership Network, and Cartini is the CMO of Upstate Venture Connect. They were connected through introductions by Babinec and Ali.

Additional Chloe Capital advisors from Upstate New York include Dick Frederick (Eastern NY Angels), Marnie LaVigne (Launch NY, Buffalo Angels), Chuck Stormon (StartFast Venture Fund, Seed Capital Fund of CNY), and Steve Raines and David Thiemecke (VCAMP, Field Nimble, Algonquin Studios).

To date, UVC has assisted in the creation of six angel funds across Upstate New York. Funds in the Mohawk Valley and Southern Tier are also in the works.

Chloe Capital will kick off it’s fundraising campaign by hosting a Women Investor Accelerator this fall at the Mohonk Mountain House. One female-founded innovation company will receive approximately $100,000 in funding during the Accelerator. This is an invite-only event featuring mentors from across the U.S., including startup investor Joanne Wilson and venture capital attorney Jenny Kassan. Accredited women investors, founders of women-led startups and businesses interested in supporting Chloe Capital’s mission can apply for an invitation at https://chloecapital.com/accelerator.
