JP Bourget is a father, founder, sometimes reluctant CISO, and advisor to entrepreneurs. He co-founded Syncurity, a Security Automation Orchestration and Response (SOAR) company in Rochester in 2014, which exited in 2020. He grew up in Buffalo, and lives in Rochester currently, with his wife and 4 children.
Currently, JP is President of Blue Cycle LLC, which advises on cyber security operations maturity, and develops security data pipelines and integrations for enterprises, MSSP/MDRs and cyber security vendors. He is also the Entrepreneur/CISO in residence at Lytical Ventures, a NYC based VC fund investing in cybersecurity, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
JP enjoys mentoring and advising first time founders and helping them short circuit their journey to success. He also enjoys punk rock, cycling and hanging out with his kids.
JP has a BS in Information Technology (2005) and a MS in Cybersecurity (2008) from Rochester Institute of Technology. In the past JP has been active with the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition in the Northeast, was a founding member of BSides ROC, has been attending Defcon since 2008, where he has organized the Defcon Bike Ride since 2011.
