Three Upstate County Executives to Share Views on Post-COVID Outlook

Syracuse, NY: Three Upstate NY County Executives – Adam Bello from Monroe County, Ryan McMahon from Onondaga County and Anthony Picente from Oneida County) – will participate in an online conversation titled Rebuild Upstate: The View Ahead. The County Executives will describe their experiences navigating the COVID-19 pandemic and share their views on how to re-invigorate the regional economy in the months ahead.

This event will be the first in a series of Rebuild Upstate themed leadership conversations organized by Upstate Venture Connect. The Rochester Beacon, a nonprofit digital news publication is partnering with UVC on this effort to share a wide selection of leaders’ views from across the region.

UVC CEO Nasir Ali stated that “The COVID-19 pandemic has upended many notions about what is normal and the lockdown has exposed enormous challenges facing our region’s largest employment sources–Higher Education, Healthcare, Local Government, and Retail/Hospitalit /Tourism. Understanding how our leaders are facing a common challenge and the new opportunities that will emerge has never been more important for our region’s businesses and innovators. Over the coming months, we will host a number of online conversations with public, private and non-profit leaders that will focus on understanding the challenges ahead and exploring new opportunities to bring our economy roaring back.”

Smriti Jacob, Managing Editor of the Rochester Beacon, will moderate the panel. Beacon publisher Alex Zapesochny said “We are excited at the opportunity of speaking to three leading County Executives. Their experiences preparing for the pandemic and perspectives on the road ahead will provide valuable insights for residents across the region.”

The CNY Business Journal, Utica Observer-Dispatch, and Herkimer Times-Telegraph will also be covering the event as media partners. This is a free event. RSVP at https://uvc.org/Rebuild-Upstate
