Michael Pavia is the Founder and Chairman of Sydor Technologies, providing customers with comprehensive, integrated solutions for ultrafast imaging systems, ballistic and impact testing systems, and custom electronics/electro-optics for a variety of applications in energy, defense, and scientific research.
Michael has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester where he taught technical entrepreneurship and business planning. He continues to mentor entrepreneurs and startups while participating as an angel investor.
He was a past recipient of the Rochester Regional Photonics Cluster Entrepreneurship Award, and the Digital Rochester Visionary Leadership Award. He also received the 2016 businessperson of the year award from the GRC Small Business Council. Sydor Technologies has been featured several times on both the Inc5000 and Rochester Top 100 lists of fastest growing companies.
Prior to founding Sydor Technologies, Michael held positions in laser fusion energy, semiconductor capital equipment, and satellite remote sensing systems. In a senior leadership role at Eastman Kodak Company, he was responsible for launching products on a global basis as the Worldwide Marketing Manager for a $1.5B strategic product group. Michael holds a BS degree in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester.
