Agreeing to these terms

By using uvc.org, subscribing to our newsletter, submitting a form, or taking part in a UVC programme or event, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page is when we last did.

About UVC

Upstate Venture Connect is a privately funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit at 690 East Main St, Little Falls, NY 13365. We are a community organisation, not an investor, a broker-dealer, a recruiter, a law firm, or an accountancy practice. Nothing on this site should be read as legal, tax, financial, or investment advice.

Using the site

You may read, share, and link to anything on this site. You may not: use it to break the law, attempt to gain access to systems or data you have not been given, scrape or harvest personal information about the people listed on it, interfere with the site or the servers behind it, or misrepresent yourself as UVC or as someone acting on our behalf.

The UNY50 and team pages list real people who agreed to appear there so that founders could reach them. Using those listings to build a marketing list, or to contact them for anything other than what they signed up for, is not permitted.

Content and trademarks

Text, photography, video, and design on this site belong to Upstate Venture Connect or to the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright. You may quote and link with attribution. Republishing substantial portions, or reusing our photography, needs our permission first. Ask, and it is usually yes.

The Upstate Venture Connect name and logo are our marks. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we endorse, sponsor, or are affiliated with something when we are not.

What you send us

When you submit a form, an application, or a founder profile, you keep ownership of what you wrote. You give us permission to store it, to share it internally with our team, and (where the whole point of the submission is an introduction) with the specific people we are connecting you to. You confirm that what you sent is accurate and yours to send.

Do not send us confidential information you are not prepared for us to read. We are not able to accept unsolicited confidential material or to treat it as being under an NDA, and submitting something to a public form is not a way to create one.

Introductions, mentors, and events

UVC makes introductions between founders, mentors, operators, and others in the Upstate community. We do these as a matter of judgement and goodwill. We do not guarantee that an introduction will be made, accepted, returned, or useful, and we do not vouch for, supervise, or take responsibility for what anyone does after we connect them.

As a matter of policy, UVC does not make investor introductions for the purpose of fundraising. Mentors and community members give their own opinions, not ours.

Event places are limited and some events are invitation-only. We may change or cancel an event, and we may decline or withdraw participation in a programme.

Email from us

Our newsletter is opt-out at any time: every message carries a working unsubscribe link, and one click is enough. What we do and do not record about those messages (including that we record which links you click) is set out on our privacy page.

Donations

Donations are processed by Givebutter and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; UVC is a 501(c)(3) organisation. Gifts are generally non-refundable, but if you gave in error, email info@uvc.org and we will sort it out.

Third-party links and services

This site links out to other organisations, and uses third-party services for donations, event registration, and email delivery. We do not control those sites or services and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

No warranty, and limits on liability

The site and everything on it is provided “as is”. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not warrant that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Upstate Venture Connect and its directors, staff, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, from an introduction, or from participation in a programme or event.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute arising under them belongs in the state or federal courts of New York.
