Alby Shale

Alby Shale is a sector and stage agnostic angel investor in more than 20 companies across Africa, the United States, and Europe. Through GP stakes in asset managers and holding companies, he also has exposure to a broader network of more than 250 ventures.

He invests alongside founders driven by enduring purpose — those whose conviction sustains them through uncertainty and scale — and is known as a thoughtful sounding board who asks good questions and supports leaders as they build.

Earlier in his career, Alby co-founded a nonprofit in Rwanda focused on reconciliation and community development, engaging thousands of people through sport and helping lead the construction of the country’s first international cricket stadium. That experience shaped his belief that lasting progress requires collaboration across public and private institutions.

A voracious reader and student of philosophy, Alby is in the process of completing a Graduate degree in Philosophy and Ethics at Harvard Extension School and holds an Executive Master of Public Administration from Columbia University.

He lives in Rhinebeck, New York, with his wife and son.
